Kate Williams

Kate Williams says that weaving is very exciting. It is a fascinating medium for creating beautiful cloth. She started weaving in 2002 after a career in IT consultancy and a time in yarn textiles before that. Her special interest is texture – lumps and bumps – and colour. She is primarily a cloth weaver but she designs and creates floor rugs occasionally too.

For Kate Williams it is very important to consider the function of the finished piece as well as creating a piece of artwork even if the finished item will be just a scarf. The textile must feel amazing to touch as well. She wants people to feel special wearing her work or to treasure a piece of her work for their home.

Kate William's studio and shop are based at the Barrow Centre, Mount Edgcumbe Country Park on the Rame Peninsular in Cornwall. Commissions for scarves, rugs, cushions, blankets and wall hangings are welcomed.
